Make a Peace Dove at Bath Abbey

From 24 May 2025, visitors to the Abbey were invited to write a message or prayer of peace, love, hope and friendship on a dove.

These doves are now part of the final installation, which can be viewed during Abbey opening hours.

For Christians, the dove is a powerful symbol of God’s love and hope.

It was the Holy Spirit in the form of a dove that descended upon Jesus at his baptism; it was a dove which returned to Noah in the ark with an olive branch to show that the flood was over and there was new life.

Peter Walker’s installation will echo these themes of love and hope.

Family Craft Days: Create for Peace will be held during half term on Thursday 30 October and Saturday 1 November. Free with admission or Bath Discovery Card

View the installation between 3 October – 14 November.

A Ukrainian Door art installation by Robert Marshall will be on display in the Alphege Chapel.

3rd October - 14th November

Robert Marshall, from Wareham in Dorset, salvaged the door from Toretsk, a city in eastern Ukraine that once was home to 30,000 people. It is marked with scorch damage from a blast and has a hole blown through it.

The sculpture is being exhibited in the Saint Alphege Chapel, alongside stories of Ukrainian families and refugees to highlight their experiences of Russia’s full-scale invasion.
